Jennings Governor - SlotMachineDepot.co.uk

JENNINGS GOVERNOR

Manufacturer: O.D. Jennings

Year: Circa 1938-1960

Jennings slot machines were a favourite of the casinos due to the reliability of it's mechanisms but especially for the beautiful chromed cases. The models were often Indian themed and had a bust of an Indian head on the front, which some players would rub for luck.

Jennings produced a number of variations of the Indian head theme, the Governor being the most common available today. Although these machines looked stunning in chrome when manufactured you will find that most today have lost that shine, and suffer badly from "pitting" of the metal casting, chrome flaking off and generally tarnished. If you buy a Jennings consider costing in the price of replating the chrome, it can be expensive!

What made the Jennings range of slot machines stand out from the others were the fact the coin escalator was fixed permaenatly to the main mechanism, this made it reliable as most problems occur on slots where escalators are seperate from the mechanism. The Jackpot was also firmly attached to the mech again proving reliable.

Jennings often used Tic Tac Toe as it's winning Bar symbol, and had devised a way of paying a win if the Tic Tac Toe appeared in ANY positions within the viewable window. The cabinet side panels were mahogany wood on early models, later they covered the panels with formica.

A large proportion of the Jennings range offered two plays for one coin.
